The High Mountain Chordsmen is the performing chorus of the Prescott Chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society (BHS).
The Society, headquartered in Nashville, Tennessee, is 23,000 members strong, comprising some 800 chapters in the US and Canada, plus several foreign affilliates. In 2013, the Society celebrated the 75th Anniversary of its founding in 1938!
Lots of exciting things are going on in the Barbershop world, besides celebrating its birthday. For example, we are now truly International - for the first time our champion quartet is from outside the US! The 2012-13 International Champions, the Ringmasters, are four exciting young men from Sweden. They were crowned at the July, 2012 Convention in Atlanta and recently appeared on the Today Show. And the runner-up quartet at that convention hailed all the way from New Zealand!

Our mid-winter conventions shine the spotlight on the Society's youth outreach programs. They have become exciting venues for youth choruses from all over to perform for enthusiastic audiences of Barbershoppers. There were fifteen youth choruses at the 2012 mid-winter convention in Orlando, and everyone pretty much had a ball!
Due to the success of our youth programs, the Society has recently begun discussions with the 20,000 member American Choral Directors Association, to explore how we might jointly encourage today's young men to experience the joy and life-long satisfaction of choral singing.
